We use the Corona SDK for our development and recently Ansca, Corona’s developers, announced some new stuff that’s hopefully coming soon.
Firstly, the big news for me is that they are going to start supporting Game Center natively, i.e. without having to use the OpenFeint API. I’ve shied away from implementing Game Center thus far because of this, but once Ansca get native Game Center into Corona, well I’ll be looking to put it in all our games.
Secondly, Ansca has finally implemented a “scene management” API directly into Corona. Before this people tended to either roll their own or use the excellent Director from Ricardo Rauber. However, Ansca has built their new API, Storyboard, and in future apps that’s what we’ll be using.
Finally, it was nice to see that Ansca is going to get round to supporting iOS5′s Twitter integration. This should make it even easier to Tweet from within our apps, something that our new game may well…hush, supposed to keep that quiet…
All I need to do is download the latest daily build from Ansca, install, and then get up to speed with the new APIs. I don’t think Game Center support will be here for a little while, but I’m confident that it’s one of Ansca’s top priorities and they’ll get to it very soon.
Dev on!
